ABOUT ASSOCIATION MICE SYMPOSIUM

The Association MICE Symposium (AMS) makes its debut on 23 July 2025 alongside the Singapore MICE Forum (SMF). Jointly organised by SACEOS and the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), and supported by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), AMS is a high-impact half-day event designed to empower association leaders to drive growth through strategic events. Featuring thought-provoking discussions, real-world case studies, and curated networking, AMS provides practical insights on event planning, resource management, and industry collaboration—supporting associations in elevating their impact while strengthening Singapore’s position as a global MICE hub.

Anthea Tan serves as the Executive Director of Sales, Tradeshow and Association at Marina Bay Sands.

Her role involves driving exhibition and association lead events into Marina Bay Sands both locally and internationally. As a per-opening team member, Anthea has served over 16 years in Marina Bay Sands, exceling in different roles within the team over the years.

Prior to joining Marina Bay Sands, Anthea was a tradeshow and conference organizer for 6 years and worked in key exhibition organizing roles across operations, project management, marketing and sales in Informa, one of the world’s largest Professional Exhibition Organisers.

Anthea has served many roles in in Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organizers & Suppliers (SACEOS) to give back to the one industry that has nurtured her and that she is extremely passionate about. She has worked in the Sustainability committee within SACEOS where she help developing standards, education and awareness of sustainability efforts in MICE industry. Previously as Honorary Secretary, she has worked to update the constitution, so they are relevant to the ever changing MICE industry.

Anthea has also established close network with other key global industry associations such as UFI, SISO, PCMA, ASAE and IAEE. Attending many of the conferences over the years to broaden her knowledge and depth of the market. She look forward to help advocate our local association to the international community and apply good practices from what she learnt to our local industry.

Anthea holds a Bachelor in Business from Royal Melbourne University of Technology majoring in Marketing. She has also holds the Certified Exhibition Management (CEM) global accreditation from the International Association of Exhibitions & Events (IAEE) and Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) from the Events Industry Council.

Dr Edward Koh has been leading the Conventions, Meetings & Incentive Travel division of the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau, a group under the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), since 2019. He provides strategic counsel to attract quality association congresses and corporate-driven events to Singapore, maintaining its position as a leading International Convention and Meetings destination. Edward also oversees local industry
growth to further entrench Singapore as a business events destination.

Edward was appointed as a PCMA board of director in September 2024, representing a globally diverse community who support the association’s mission to drive global economic and social transformation through business events. In May 2023, Edward was appointed the board chair at BestCities Global Alliance. In this role, Edward will prioritise knowledge creation and client engagement in the fields of legacy and sustainability, with a goal of growing the global impact of meetings events.

In his previous appointment, Edward assumed the position of Executive Director, Southeast Asia in January 2015. Edward led the overall operations of STB in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, Philippines and Brunei. He also oversaw all strategic planning and execution of marketing activities within these markets to champion Singapore as a compelling tourist destination.

Prior to that, Edward served as Executive Director for Southeast Asia I and International Group Planning in March 2014 where he led the Division in providing critical policy and planning support for the Regional Offices and working with in-market industry partners to drive tourism growth. He was the Executive Director for Strategy & Planning and Research & Incentives in November 2011, responsible for the provision of economic analysis,
consumer insights and market trends to the tourism sector.

Edward brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge of the China market. He previously served as Deputy Regional Director for STB Greater China (2006-2008), where he was responsible for strategic planning and channel development to drive BTMICE traffic from China to Singapore. He subsequently assumed the role as Regional Director for STB Greater China (2008-2011), where he managed and oversaw five Regional Offices: Eastern China, Northern China, Southern China, Western China, and Hong Kong & Macau, and provided strategic direction for his team to effectively promote Singapore as a compelling destination and hub for business and travel.

Before joining the STB, Edward spent 13 years at the Ministry of Manpower, where he held various positions in its Prosecution Unit, Manpower Policy Department, International Manpower Division and Contact Singapore. His last position was as the Regional Director (Greater China) for Contact Singapore and concurrently the Deputy Director (International Operations), International Manpower Division. He was also the Alternate Lead Negotiator (Movement of Natural Persons), China-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (CSFTA) for the period of 2004-2005.

Edward graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science, and Beijing University in 2003 with a second Bachelor’s degree (Chinese Language & Literature). He also holds a Master degree in Public Policy & Management (2007) from Tsinghua University, and a doctorate in Hotel & Tourism Management from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, School of Hotel & Tourism Management. He is a Visiting Professor at Bangkok University, sits on the editorial review board of the International Journal of Tourism Cities, and is the Chair of the Program Advisory Committee of Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)’ Bachelor of Science (Events Management) program. Edward was awarded the Public Administration (Silver) Medal in 2024.

Mr Kok Ping Soon is Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), the apex business chamber championing the interests of Singapore’s business community in trade, investment and industrial relations matters. SBF represents more than 32,000 companies, as well as key local and foreign business chambers.

Prior to his current appointment, Ping Soon was Chief Executive of the Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech), the lead agency driving Singapore’s Smart Nation initiative and public sector digital transformation. He also held various positions in the
Ministry of Manpower, National Security Co-ordination Secretariat, Ministry of Trade & Industry, Singapore Tourism Board, Contact Singapore (CS), and Economic Development Board (EDB). He spent six years in the United States working for CS and EDB.

He serves on the Board of SBF Holdings, SBF Connect, Singapore Business Federation Foundation, Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority, Global Compact Network Singapore, Singapore Pools and The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore. He is also a member of Singapore International Arbitration Centre, Singapore International Mediation Centre, NUS Institute of Systems Sciences, National Integration Council and a fellow member of Singapore Computer Society.

Ms Louise Chua is the Executive Director of the Singapore Contractors Association, representing the interests of stakeholders in the construction industry. With a background in industry engagement, business events, and partnerships, she focuses on fostering collaboration, growing member value, and exploring new opportunities for relevance and reach to better serve the construction community.

Mohamed Firhan Abdul Salam serves as Deputy Director for Conventions at the Singapore Tourism Board (STB). He leads efforts to position Singapore as a premier destination for association conferences and meetings. Through partnerships with local and international associations and Singapore’s MICE industry, his team secures major international business events for Singapore. His 15-year tenure at STB includes key roles in STB’s Indonesia and Dubai offices.

Reuben is Chief Executive Officer at Singapore FinTech Association (SFA). He leads the secretariat and works with the executive committee to spearhead initiatives that strengthen the FinTech ecosystem in Singapore.

With close to 20 years of experience in business development and management, Reuben has empowered both large enterprises, SMEs and government agencies in uncovering valuable revenue and growth opportunities through active business partnering and strong leadership. He has led teams across the industries of aviation, real estate investment, marine, intellectual property, amongst others.

Reuben graduated from the Singapore Management University in Business Management (SMU), with a Magna Cum Laude. He also holds a Graduate Diploma in IP Management and Innovations Management from Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS).

A Master’s graduate from the University of Sydney, Richard has been involved in ‘live events’ for the past 25 years. He has launched numerous exhibitions, conferences, training events and digital communities over a broad range of industries throughout Asia Pacific.

Richard is currently the CEO of Clarion Events Asia and his role is to expand Clarion’s footprint in the region via organic growth, launch and via acquisition. He has held this role since 2014. He has oversight of Clarion’s Shanghai business, Clarion’s Indonesian business and the Clarion business in Singapore. He was previously the CEO of Terrapinn Asia Pacific. He has lived and worked in Singapore since 1995 and has been a permanent resident since 2004.

Richard is also the President of the Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (SACEOS). He has led the association and industry through the re-opening post pandemic, helping drive key initiatives and events such as the MICE Sustainability Roadmap, MICE Internship Best Practices Guidelines and the Asia CEO Summit. He was a committee member of the TR 84 Standards Committee and led the rolling out of the SafeEvent Management courses. Over 3200 certified SG SafeEvent Ambassador have been trained during Covid-19.

As a strong advocate for training and education, Richard has regularly trained both exhibition and conference management to industry, and previously served as Vice President for Professional Development at SACEOS.

He has also provided consultation to a number of business media companies in Asia Pacific focusing on strategy and performance improvement.

Richard has pitched, won and managed joint venture partnerships with some of the region’s and world’s largest trade associations and governments and has led various M&A transactions in the region.

His dermatological career started at the Middle Road Hospital in the 1980s and continued at the National Skin Centre. He was Director of the NSC from 2004 to 2014, the inaugural Chairman of the Chapter of Dermatologists, and the inaugural Executive Director (Clinical) of the Skin Research Institute of Singapore.

His clinical interests include STI, HIV, cutaneous infections and diseases of hair. He founded Action for AIDS in 1988, a non-governmental organisation which was awarded the WHO Dr Lee Jong-Wook Memorial Prize in Public Health. He was awarded the 2009 QE2 Gold Medal by the Royal Society for Public Health, the 2016 National Medical Excellence Award and the 2023 NHG Lifetime Achievement Award. He has been awarded the ILDS Certificate of Appreciation, the American Academy of Dermatology President’s Citation and Honorary International Fellow of the American Dermatology Association.

His immediate past achievement was President of the 25th World Congress of Dermatology in 2023.

Dr. Sajeesh BABU has 30 years of International Experience in Energy, Refineries & Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, Building & Construction Industry in Quality Assurance & Control, NDT, Condition Monitoring & Diagnostics Testing,

Currently he is holding a position of Quality Director in Rotary Group & CEO of ANSA Holdings, Singapore

He is currently the Chairman of the International Committee for NDT (ICNDT), Vienna & the President of Non-Destructive Testing Society (Singapore).

He worked greatly for the promotion of harmonization in NDT personnel certification worldwide in specific to ISO 9712 standards

Dr. Babu obtained his Engineering Doctorate from City University of Hong Kong and obtained his Master of Engineering from University of South Australia. His research includes Reliability & productivity of Non-Destructive testing in constructions welds under Systems Engineering.

He is a Chartered Engineer from Singapore & UK & Registered Professional Engineer from HK respectively. He is a Qualified ISO 9712 NDT Level 3 & ASNT NDT Level 3

He is a fellow of HKICA, fellow of NDTSS, Honorary member of ICNDT & APFNDT.

Mr Terence Quek is the CEO of Singapore Institute of Directors. Completing 13 years with the Singapore Navy as a Naval Combat Officer, he became the executive director of a company he co-founded and led through two M&A exercises. Mr Quek contributed to national-level programmes related to employment, skills and sustainability, serving on committees and working groups organised by ACRA, Charity Council, Enterprise Singapore, and TAFEP. He volunteers as a District Councillor of two Community Development Councils, member of SAFRA management committee and co-chaired the Alumni Advisory Council at Singapore Management University. He served as a guest judge of various awards including President ‘s Voluntarism and Philanthropy Awards. He is a board member of Health Sciences Authority and was a board member of registered charity Bone Marrow Donor Programme, startup mentor with Action Community for Entrepreneurship, and served on a School Advisory Committee.
